Gaby Winters is still emotionally recovering from an accident in which she lost her twin brother Jude a year ago. Adding to her grief, she has violent dreams of fighting demons and hellions next to a gorgeous young man, whom she names Matt. Matt, it turns out, is a real person named Rafa, and he has a very different version of her pre-accident life than she remembers.
A few days ago I went to my local library. I went, as I very often do, with the strict intention of returning a book, and then leave. After all, I have more than enough books on my current reading list, and even more unread books in my shelf.
I can proudly say I only left with four books and one DVD.

The car drew away, leaving the little girl on the edge. Shaking with cold in her thin cotton T-shirt and shorts, she sat down, arms locked around her knees, her light blonde hair blowing messily in the wind, pale as a dandelion seed head.
Be quiet, freak, or we will come back and get you, they’d said.
She didn’t want them to come back for her. She knew that for a fact, even if she couldn’t remember her name or where she lived.
